How to start a skincare routine
Good skincare products are just not enough. Applying them in the correct order determines how effective your products will be. However, your routine depends on several factors including your skin type, the product formulations, ingredients, and the time of the day you are applying your products. If you have many products, a good rule of thumb is to start applying your products from the thinnest in texture to the thickest. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you with your skincare routine.

Step by step guide to starting your skincare routine
Applying routine goes a long way in ensuring you improve your skincare. Below are the steps for a good skincare routine:

Cleanser. When you wake up use warm water to rinse your face. Rub a gentle cleanser in between your palms, massage it all over your face while applying gentle pressure. Rinse your hands as well as your face and pat your face dry using a soft towel. You may need to cleanse twice if your wear make up.

Apply toner. Immediately after cleansing your face pour a few drops of the toner on a cotton pad or into your palms and gently rub it on your face. If you are using a hydrating toner you can use it twice a day and if it is an exfoliating toner you are only required to use it at night. (

Antioxidant serum. Morning is a great time to use antioxidant serums that will provide you with lots of benefits including protecting your skin (hudpleie) from UV rays while moisturizing serum is best used at night.

Apply eye cream. It is recommended that you apply eye cream twice a day and at least every night. (ansiktsmaske) Applying eye cream helps to maintain the eyelid skin, improves the skin quality, and gives that part of the skin a smooth appearance. Regularly apply eye cream to achieve consistency.

Use spot treatment. The body repairs at night and it’s a good idea to use spot treatment to treat acne. Avoid products that will irritate your skin, make sure the products you use will help keep your skin calm and hydrated.

Moisturize. Moisturizing helps to hydrate your skin and it cements all the layers you have applied. In the morning apply lightweight lotion while at night you can apply a thicker night cream. If you have dry skin you may want to moisturize twice a day that is the morning and at night.

Apply sunscreen. A skincare regimen is not complete without sun protection. Applying sunscreen protects your skin from UV rays and should be the last step in your daytime routine. Applying sunscreen becomes even more tricky when you apply chemical sunscreen. UV rays contribute to skin cancer and skin aging, therefore you need to wear sunscreen to avoid these.
